  • Overcoming Shyness & Social Phobia Overcoming Shyness & Social Phobia

    • Author: Dr. Ronald M. Rapee, Ph.D
    • ISBN: 0 9585453 1 6
    • AU$29.99
    • 126 pages

    • In his forewords to Overcoming Shyness & Social Phobia Garry McDonald wrote the following:

      I start every day by reading a short essay by a Tao master. He reduces all these meditations to a one word title - the one that struck me the most was Clarity. He contends that what we are all seeking in life is clarity. Ignorance is what causes our unhappiness.

      That's what this book will teach you - how to think clearly. How to break the habit of many years of irrational thinking and how to avoid slipping back into those well worn paths in the brains when you're tired or under stress.

      It's a fantastic program, very simply explained. It requires a little discipline, but then what in life doesn't?

      I'm one of those baby boomers that jeered when our Prime Minister, Malcolm Frazer, was quoted as saying "life wasn't meant to be easy"......... I was of the opinion, along with many others of my generation, that you were born and effortlessly lived happily ever after. What a recipe for disaster that is. Professor Martin Seligman once stated that it is this high expectation of a dream run that has produced so much depression and anxiety in this generation. And yet the solution is easy.

    • The technique described in this book is similar to the one I used to overcome my social phobia and anxiety. It takes a little bit of determination at the beginning but once understood and practiced thoroughly, it's a bit like learning to drive a car. You'll never forget it. This book offers a practical step-by-step approach and scientifically proven techniques are described, designed to help you control your social fears and build inner confidence.

      After completing this program you will:

      - be able to clearly identify your fears, worries and feelings in social situations;
      - worry less about what people think of you;
      - overcome those annoying "mental blanks";
      - be able to face your social fears head on;
      - be more assertive.

      This is a fantastic program, very simply explained.
